PIER SILVIO BERLUSCONI:
THE 'COSTANZO SHOW' CLOSES AN EXTRAORDINARY CHAPTER
IN ITALIAN TV WITH MORE THAN 4,000 EPISODES AND 30,00 GUESTS
MAURIZIO HAS REPRESENTED ITALY AND OUR LIFE BETTER THAN ANYONE
Tomorrow, Wednesday 9 December, Canale 5 will broadcast the final episode of the "Maurizio Costanzo Show".
After 25 years on the stage of the Teatro Parioli, after 4,400 episodes and 32,800 guests, Maurizio Costanzo has decided the formula has done its job, the talk show that discusses and analyses, that he introduced to Italy.
Statement by Pier Silvio Berlusconi, deputy chairman of Mediaset:
"Tomorrow, with the last episode of a programme that has been crucial in the history of Mediaset, an extraordinary chapter of Italian television will come to an end.
When I began my career, the "Costanzo Show" was absolutely unique in the PV panorama and I can say that Maurizio over the years has represented Italy and our daily life better than anyone. And I also have a personal involvement. Costanzo saw me as a boy and taught me a great deal: by debt to him is enormous, incalculable.
I share his decision to stop now, a lucid evaluation of a man who knows when the time has come for a change. Consequently I wish him every success in his future TV activities where I am sure that once again he will surprise us. Good luck, Maurizio".
