Carlo Secchi

Born on 4 February 1944, he is professor of European political economy at the Bocconi University in Milan, of which he was rector from 2000 to 2004.

He is director of the Institute of Latin American Studies and Countries in Transition.

He was a member of the European parliament during the IV legislature (1994-1999), where he was vice president of the Economic and Monetary Commission.

He was a member of the Italian senate during the XXII legislature (1994-96).

He is a member of the advisory boards of a number of technical-scientific foundations and institutes, including the IReR (Istituto Regionale di Ricerca della Lombardia).

He is deputy chairman of ISPI (Istituto per gli Studi di Politica Internazionale in Milan), and chairman of the Italian group of the Trilateral Commission.

He is currently a non-executive director of a number of Italian companies, of the Veneranda Fabbrica del Duomo and the Fondazione Teatro alla Scala.

He is currently a director of Mediaset SpA, TEM (Tangenziali Esterne di Milano) SpA, Pirelli & C. SpA, Parmalat SpA, Italcementi SpA, Allianz SpA, Sviluppo del Mediterraneo SpA and Centrale Finanziaria Generale.

He is chairman of Quantica Sgr.

He is also the author of books and numerous articles o international trade and business, economic integration and European issues.
